Critical Navigation Techniques is a hands-on course designed for hunters, survivalists, and professionals who need to navigate challenging terrains with precision and confidence. Through this course, you’ll master essential map and compass skills, including reading topographic maps, plotting routes, and accounting for terrain features. We’ll dive into advanced techniques such as orienting in low-visibility conditions, using natural landmarks, and understanding magnetic declination for accurate bearings. Whether you’re tracking game in the wilderness, planning a survival route, or preparing for field operations, this course provides practical tools tailored to your needs. By the end, you’ll feel confident finding your way, avoiding common navigation mistakes, and making decisive movements in any environment. Don’t leave your success to chance—develop the skills that ensure your safety and efficiency in the field. WHAT YOU WILL LEARN: - Able to read a Map - Plan the best Route - Terrain Association - Use of Lensatic Compass and Protractor - And much much more… WHAT to BRING: - Lensatic Compass (w/ Tritium and locking bevel preferred) - Pace beads/cords (not required, but highly recommended) - A method to Hydrate while moving - Light source (headlamp or flashlight) - Eye protection MANDATORY (Sunglasses – day, Clear Lenses – night) - Closed-toe shoes and comfortable, weather-appropriate clothing - A meal (depending on time of day) LOCATION & TIME: - Hollidaysburg Consolidated Sportsmen's Association - Duration: 4 - 6 hours, depending on your individual progression - (Date & Time) This will be based on your timeline and area availability
